Stuart Lockley

Growing up in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney Stuart spent his teens watching music videos and obsessing over sports.  This quickly evolved into attempting to create his own sports shows, borrowing his Mother's Hi8 video camera and strapping it to everything possible.  Nothing was off limits.

Upon completion of high school Stuart found himself working in an I.T. career that would span 16 years, from apprentice to owner. A career that allowed him to work all over the world from Gudang Garum in Surabaya Indonesia to the computing power house of Scitex in Herzlia, Israel. Towards the end of this time, one thing had remained constant; there was always a camera around. The life changing moment was realized whilst repairing a high tech editing suite for a customer, he felt as if he was in the right place, but for the wrong reason. It was time to change everything.

In July 2005, Stuart sold his business, rented his house, gave his furniture away and packed his bags. With the realization of what he needed to become it was time to take a break and re-evaluate his life in order to achieve his goal.

After venturing the globe, gaining invaluable life experience and working with some of Europe's top entrepreneurs he returned home. Stuart knew the next step was to formalize his film skills in order to create a platform for a future in film.

During his years at film school Stuart learned far more than he bargained for, realizing sports films were only his beginnings. Directing actors, creating tension and excitement, writing drama and engaging an audience was far more interesting, rewarding and challenging. Fulfillment could be felt while capability and potential advanced.

With focus now on directing, writing and producing, Stuart began to find his voice and style through the 5 short films he completed.  His extensive technical knowledge became a great asset in utilizing the technologies of today in creating cinema.

Since graduating the need to collaborate with liked minded individuals grew, Stuart created MOMENT 58 in partnership with friend and collaborator Alexander Moir to form a solid foundation for utilizing classic and modern techniques within cinema.  Stuart is excitedly and diligently working towards a future in MOMENT 58.
